Blog should be easy to read, right?

I’m still laughing when I think about it… For me it is like a joke. But what? Recently I’ve discovered that former Polish Prime Minister, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz has it’s own blog. Well, point for him. He is using one of biggest polish portals Onet. It has own blogging service (everybody in this business has). But all blogs are accessible only via WWW. No RSS. Yeah. No RSS… I think reason why Onet have choose not to support RSS is to close users in own services. Most of this blogs stinks ;-) but people are creating many of them. Without RSS blogs on Onet are read only by Onet users, so it is self fueling community. Is it bad?

Well but for most of us it is clear that information want to be free :-)) Onet is closing blogs in custom interface. Theirs (Onet and theirs users) choice. But for people outside Onet’s blogs are not worth reading. For me blogs about daily life of other (strange) people are boring. I like blogs with real and useful information in it. It happens that I praise techno blogs the most, since I’m looking for such information. I don’t find it on Onet. And even if some good blogs are on it, I’m staing away since WWW interface to read blogs on different sites is waste of time (You have to go to each blog to find if there is something new, RSS makes it trivial).

So cutting off RSS channel Onet probably have what it wanted – closed user base, they are stronger tied to Onet services. OTOH closed means – no readers from outside. Everyone is making own choices…

To be complete this link makes me laugh: http://blog.onet.pl/pomoc/fts.html?q=rss&x=0&y=0. For those do not know polish:
Blog Help: Search results for: RSS – Sorry we dont find any matching documents“.

Well ;-)) it makes me laugh – successful blogging service without RSS feed. Or even without mention of RSS… It looks like in Onet’s part of blogosphere RSS does not exists ;-)))

For those interested in, Kazimerz Marcinkiewcz’s blog: http://kmarcinkiewicz.blog.onet.pl/. Despite my sympathy I probably wont be reading…

  1. Well…
I’m not Onet user. I’m not reading blogs on Onet. They don’t have link/alternate tag in theirs template. I did search their support forum for keyword RSS. No results. I looked on main page. No RSS word. So I assumed they don’t use RSS. It seems I was wrong, but at least I did background check before I stated there is no RSS ;-))
