I’m using FreeBSD on many servers dedicated mostly to network management and monitoring. Due to many restrictions I often need to move ports updates as an tgz archive. I’ve learned that You should delete old ports tree before unpacking new one. Otherwise You will encounter errors like => Patch patch-eval.c failed to apply cleanly.
. Old patches still sit in ports tree and unpacking tar archive not always overwrites them (like patch list for particular ports gets shorter in current port tree).
